The death of Emily Mary Robichaud of Miramichi, NB, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 63. Born in Chatham Head, NB, Emily was the daughter of the late Elzear and Salome (Breau) Robichaud.

Emily was a homemaker and a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church. She was also associate with Sisters of Saint John the Divine, Toronto Anglican Order and a volunteer with caring friend’s activity center in Chatham.

Emily is survived by two daughters: Michelle Vienneau of Barnaby River, NB and Carrie Ann Vienneau of Miramichi, NB; three sisters: Mary Geikie (Bernard) and Yvonne Rumble (Wayne) all of Miramichi, NB and Cecile Roy (Paul) of Quebec: three brothers Eugene of Miramichi, NB, Edgar (Sanna) of Moncton, NB, Ernest (Trish) of Ontario; four grandchildren: Leondra, Jansen, Ty and Shaye and one great grandchild: Jase; one sister-in-law: Laura Robichaud of Saint John, NB and several nieces and nephews.

Emily is predeceased by: sister: Annette Empsall (Richard); half -sister: Delphine Robichaud and brother: Terrance.
At Emily’s request there will be no visitation. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 11 AM with Father Paul LeBlanc officiating.

Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

In Emily’s memory a donation may be made to the Cancer Society or a memorial of one’s choice.

Leo Paul Amyotte, of Miramichi, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 79.

Born in Fort-Coulonge, Quebec, he was the son of the late Elie and Cecile (Graveline) Amyotte. He was a mill worker as well as a carpenter before his retirement.

Paul will be sadly missed by his wife Ida; daughter Denise (William Murphy) of Barnaby River; son Jean-Paul (Paula) of Miramichi; two sisters Mariette (Robert) of Quebec, and Helene of Ottawa, ON; two brothers Jean-Guy (Jeannine) of Toronto,ON and Gaitan (Patricia) of Quebec; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Roger and sister Gisele.

The family will receive relatives and friends from Northumberland Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at a time to be announced.

Mrs. Gertrude Katherine Lloyd formerly of Ferry Road passed away at Mount St Joseph Nursing Home on Sunday, March 1, 2015 in her 90th year.

Born in Loggieville, Gertrude was the youngest of nine children born to Edward and
Leona (Murdock) Nowlan.

She is survived by sons; Francis (Pam) of Miramichi, Carl of Medfield, MA and Connie of Miramichi. Also survived by special granddaughter Christine and grandsons: Eric, Trevor and Adam. Three great granddaughters, Amber, Keisha and Kelsey and by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Frank Lloyd, her son David, granddaughter Samantha and grandsons John David and Avery; and by her sisters: Helen and Mary and her brothers: Lee, Hayward, Norman, Arthur, Patrick and Murdock.

At her request there will be no visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 3rd, 2015 at 1pm from St Michael’s Basilica with Fr John Fraser officiating. John Augustine passed away on Sunday March 1 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 82.

Born in Miramichi he was the son of the late Barney and Sarah (Domenic) Augustine.

He is survived by Nephew’s and Neices,Roger (Lois) Augustine,Leona,Courtney (Sylvia) Augustine,Nonie(Ron) McIntyre,Liz Coburn,Marcel (Margaret) Augustine,Mary Ginnish (George),Ricky (Darlene) Augustine,Dwayne (Kathy),and Michael Robert Augustine.

He was predeceased by a Sister Agnes Simonson and a nephew Gerry Garretson.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on pFriday March 6 at 10 am from St Joachim’s Roman Catholic Church Eel Ground with Father Tom Fowler officiating,burial will tke place in the Church cemetery later in the spring.

The death of Mrs. Doreen Laura (Adams) Allison wife of the late Harold Allison of Miramichi, NB and formerly of Whitney, NB, occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 88. Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge and Laura (Winton) Adams. Doreen was a retired school teacher working most of her career at MVHS but also teaching at NSER. Doreen was a past member of St. Philip’s United Church, Whitney and a member of St. James and St. John United Church, she was also a member of both UCW’s, member of the Whitney Willing Workers, Retired Teacher’s Association and past member of the Miramichi Auxiliary at the Miramichi Regional Hospital.

Doreen is survived by: one daughter: Donna Mather of Miramichi, NB; one son: William “Bill” Allison (Susan) of Saint John, NB; six grandchildren: Vonda Hare (Ernest), James Mather (Linda), Jeffrey Mather (Krista), Craig Allison (Jessica), Stephen Allison (Cindy) and Bruce Allison (Michelle); 12 great grandchildren: Kailey, Emily, Scott, Justin, Kyle, Cole, Kaylyn, Robert, Noah, Liliana, Kayla and Alysha.

Besides her parents and husband, Doreen is predeceased by: son in law: Ian Mather; three sisters: Irene, Isabel & Grace and four brothers: Gordon, Chalmers, James and Elton.

The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mr. Clarence Benjamin Coughlan husband of Edna (Williams) Coughlan of Gray Rapids NB, passed away Sunday March 1, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 85. Born in Gray Rapids NB, he was the son of the late Hiram and Effie (Harris) Coughlan. He was a woods worker and a member of the Anglican Church.

Besides his wife Edna, he is survived by three sons, Dean (Rose) of Barnaby River, Stephen (Peggy) of Gray Rapids and Peter (Emmy) of Grand Prairie Alberta, three sisters, Hazel Underhill of Gray Rapids, Enid Parks of Gray Rapids and Winnifred Holomay of Kamloops BC, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters Ethel and Blanche, four brothers Peter, George, Burpee and Floyd.

At the request of the family there will be no visitation. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday March 5, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Blackville, with Father Gerry Laskey officiating. Burial will be in St Agnes Anglican Cemetery later in the spring.

The death of Mildred Elizabeth Dickie “Millie” wife of the late James Harding Dickie of Miramichi, NB, occurred on Monday, March 2, 2015 at her late residence. Born in Campbellton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Marguerite (MacKinnon) Dickie. Millie attended St. James Presbyterian Church, Newcastle was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10, the Korean War Veteran’s Association and the Newcastle Senior Citizen’s Club, she was also a past member of the Rotary Club and was a recipient of the Paul Harris Award.

Millie is survived by: four daughters: Debbie Moffat (Tommy) of Edmonton, AB; Cathy McEachern (Gordon) of Tabusintac, NB; Arlene Coombs (Jim) of Saint John, NB; Robyn McPherson (Johnny) of Dartmouth, NS; two sons: James “Jamie” of Miramichi, NB; Michael (Krista) of Quispamsis, NB; one sister: Phyllis Vick of Bathurst, NB; grandchildren: Jimmy, Meghan, Jonathon, Justin, Kelsey, Jayne, Michael, Graydon, Emily, Matthew, Ryan and Katherine; great grandson: Kenson and several nieces and nephews.

The death of Mrs. Audrey Mazerall, of Douglasfield, occurred on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 96.

She was the daughter of the late William and Abigail (Hill) LeParde.

She is survived by two daughters Jane (John) Stewart,of Douglasfield and Kathleen (Late Burt Cyr) of Ottawa; seven grandchildren;10 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband Gordon Mazerall and a grandson Marc Cyr.

At the family’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will take place later in the spring, in Miramichi Cemetery.

Sister Ellen Eileen Hickey of Patience Lane, Fredericton, formally of Miramichi, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chambers Hospital on Monday, March 2nd, 2015 at the age of 92.

Born in Boiestown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Weston and Nora (McNeil) Hickey. She was a schoolteacher for 38 years.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters Mary and Noreen Carr and brothers, Leo and Laurie Hickey.

Sister Ellen Eileen Hickey is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 3 pm at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery later in the spring. ImpressionBernard T. Carter, 84, of Gaspé Quebec died February 23rd, 2015. Bernard, son of Kingsley James Carter and Elsie Blanch Patterson, passed away painlessly and peacefully in hospital a few days after suffering a stroke. He is survived by his sister Betty and sons Mark, Craig and Blake who love and miss him greatly. He lived a full and interesting life. His strength of character will live on through all who knew and loved him. As he requested, there will be no public viewing, funeral, church or graveside service. This fall his sons will spread his remains at the mouth of his favourite brook during his favourite season.

Message to friends and family: Those who wish to recognize my life and passing are welcome to do so in accordance with their own individual beliefs.

On our father’s behalf, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of support.

Miramichi – Harold (Hal) Alvin Shaw, husband of the late Elizabeth R. Shaw, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Friday evening, March 6, 2015, at the age of 93.

Born in Tomiko, Ont., on February 7, 1922, he was the son of the late Neil and Ethel (McGowan) Shaw. He was a thirty-three years retired employee of the Dept. of National Defense, working as a firefighter by profession. He as a Veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas (Newfoundland) with the R.C.A. F.; a fifty-five year member of the Royal Canadian Legion; a fifty-five year member of the Masonic Lodge, most currently the Miramichi Chapter #18; a member of the Miramichi Shrine Club. He was United Church by faith.

Harold was an avid athlete who excelled at whatever he did over the years, and continued to keep himself in excellent physical condition. He was a well known and respected hockey player in the Miramichi area for many years. He organized the noon hour shinny hockey at the Lord Beaverbrook arena.

He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Higginbotham (Steven), of Trenton, Ont. And Janet Shaw (Rob Green), of Edmonton, AB; one son, Gary Shaw (Colleen), of Quispamsis; three grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, Mark; one great grandchild, Charlee; one sister, Marion Fisher, of North Bay, Ont. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, in 2005; three sisters, Edith, Velma and Voilet; three brothers, Russell, Gerald and Gordon.

Visiting will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi on Tuesday, March 10th, from 2-4 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church on Wednesday, March 11th, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, later in the spring.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Miramichi Shrine Club or any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family. Frank David Weeks, of Knox Street, Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at the age of 71.

Born in Chatham, on June 12, 1943, he was the youngest son of the late Ellery C. and Eva J. (Dealy) Weeks. Frank was employed with the Canadian Armed Forces for thirty years, with duties in the Army, Air Force and Navy. He served as a Veteran Peace Keeper with three tours of duty in Israel and Syria. He also completed three NATO tours with the Canadian Navy.

An avid sports fan, Frank was honored by the N.B. Softball Hall of Fame as a team member of the Loggieville Bisons, inducted in 1996, and as an individual player in 2005. Frank proudly acted as chairperson for the Loggieville Remembrance Day Service Committee for well over twenty years.

He is survived by two daughters, Erin Weeks (Jeff Sytmiest), of Fredericton and Hayley Weeks – Blakely (Tom), of Devon, Alberta; one son, Jeff Weeks, of Miramichi; five grandchildren, Liam, C.C., Normandy, Griffin, Bronwyn and the anticipated arrival of grandchild number six, in July; three sisters, Eleanor Whiteside, of Crossville, Tenn., USA, Phyllis Weeks, of North Bay, Ont. and his twin sister, Shirley Lingenfelter (Ken), of Nanaimo, B.C.; one sister in law, Mrs, June Weeks, of Miramichi. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers, Royce, Brydonne, Bill, Bob, Gerald.

By request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. The public are invited to attend a memorial service to be held from Knox United Church on Friday, at 1 pm, conducted by Rev. Gerald Blacquier, with a reception to follow at the F.P. Loggie Hall. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, later in the spring.

Marion was a homemaker, present member of St. Raphael’s CWL, past provincial president and life member of the CWL. Marion was an avid reader and enjoyed her grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Marion is survived by three daughters: Marilyn Underhill (Paul) & Janice Jardine (Garth) all of Blackville, NB, ; Michelle McDonald (Dan) of Chatham, NB; one son: Michael (Barb) of Blackville, NB; one sister: Lois Gilbert of Chilliwack, BC; eight grandchildren: Morgan & Jesse Underhill, Laura & Maggie Jardine, Brandon & Hailey McDonald and Michael & Louis Fogan and several nieces and nephews.

Marion is predeceased by one sister: Greta Ethridge and two brothers: Raymond and Lawrence.

Mr. Aloysius Joseph Andrew Tucker husband of Beatrice (Curtis) Tucker of Derby NB passed away Monday morning March 9, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 77. Born in Chatham NB, he was the son of the late Andrew and Sadie (Hallihan) Tucker. He was a retired custodian at Millerton School and a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Besides his wife Beatrice, he is survived by one daughter; Lesley Foran (Barry) of Miramichi, three sons; Todd Tucker (Karin) of Napanee ON, Talbot Tucker (Susan) of Rublin ON and Tanner (Ashley) of Keswick NB, one sister; Elizabeth Rogers (Richard) of Fredericton, one brother; Peter Tucker (Vivian) of Riverview, eight grandchildren; Adam Jardine, Crystal and Darcy Foran, Jesse and Darby Tucker, Brandon and Andrew Tucker and Jack Aloysius Tucker, two great grandchildren; Calirae Foran and Alexander Arnold.

Mr. Aloysius Joseph Andrew Tucker is resting at Father Murdock Memorial Room, Renous, with visitation on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, with Monsignor Joseph Woods officiating. Burial will be in the family lot of St. Bridget’s R C Cemetery.

Mr. Leslie Eugene Clark husband of the late Annie Clark of King George Hwy, Miramichi, passed away Tuesday morning March 10, 2015 at Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 97. Born in Millbank NB, he was the son of the late Harold and Lilly (Leslie) Clark. He was retired from St Margaret’s Radar Base and also was a commercial fisherman. He was a member of the United Church and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 3 in Chatham.

He is survived by three sons; Andrew Clark (Joan) of Miramichi, Elmer Clark (Charlotte) of Grand Prairie AB and Greg Clark (Kara) of Miramichi, one sister; Lorna Dickson and seven grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife Annie, he was predeceased by five brothers; Earl, David, Charlie, George and Robert Clark.

Mr. Leslie Eugene Clark is resting at Davidson’s Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Hwy, with visitation on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9. The Funeral Service will be held Sunday March 15, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Davidson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of St. Samuel’s Roman Catholic Cemetery later in the spring.

The Death of Harry Somers,formerly of Millerton,occurred on Tuesday at the Mount Saint Joseph’s nursing home peacefully surrounded by his loving Wife and Family.

Born in Matthews Settlement he was the Son of the late William and Effie (Matthews) Somers. He would have turned 98 this Saturday.

Harry worked his life driving truck and when not driving he loved spending time gardening and had a great love for animals.

He is survived by his wife Lulu (Bryenton),Daughters Dianne Bishop,Ruth (Mel) Brisebois,and Son Richard.

Sisters Marie Harris,Rhona Kenny,Gladys Savage,Evelyn,and Audrey Smith.

Grandchildren Jody Bishop,Tanya Bishop,Michel Brisebois (Jen) Sonia Brookes (Kris),Andrea and Andrew Somers.

He was predeceased by his Grandson Aaron Somers last year.

The Family will receive relatives and friends at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church Saturday March 14,from 11am until the Funeral Service which will be held from the Church at 1pm,conducted by Pastor Fred Williams.

Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date.

It is with great sadness that the family of Evangeline “Vange” Mary Russell of Miramichi, NB, wish to announce her death that occurred at her residence on Friday, March 13, 2015. Vange was the 2nd child of Edward and Marion Hanley.

Vange was a homemaker, a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Mary’s CWL and enjoyed playing bridge, curling and creating beautiful needlework. She belonged to the Newcastle Curling Club and the Miramichi Golf and Country Club. She excelled at golf and won the Ladies Club Championship in 1949, 1950 and 1951.

Vange will be sadly missed by her three daughters: Brenda Russell and Nancy Jill Smith (David) all of Newcastle, NB and Carol Michaud (Gilles) of Douglasfield, NB; one step-son: John Russell of Douglastown, NB; grandchildren: Matthew Russell (Angela) of Columbus, Ohio, Alexis Smith (Scott Carson) of Fredericton, NB, Laura Smith (Dave Roy) of Ottawa. ON; Greg Smith (Wendy) of China; Johnny Russell of Douglastown, NB; Debbie Russell (Steve) of Toronto, ON and Michael Russell of Halifax, NS. Great grandchildren: Ainsley and Anson Russell, William and Luke Carson and Tristan & Neve Roy and several nieces and one nephew. Vange had a special place in her heart for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and never tired of hearing their news. She was very proud of them.

Besides her husband J. Edwin (Sonny), Vange is predeceased by one sister Yvonne Landry and an infant brother.

The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, 2015 from 2to 4 & 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 10 AM with Father Tom Fowler officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic cemetery later in the spring.

In Vange’s memory a donation may be made to St. Mary’s Restoration Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice. Would be appreciated by the family.
